Perlane®
Perlane® is a dermal filler consisting of hyaluronic acid suspended in clear gel. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance within the body, it is accepted well into the skin with minimal risk of allergic reactions. Perlane® is injected into the skin to treat wrinkles, facial lines and depressions and for shaping facial contours, such as cheeks, chin and nasolabial folds.
Often used in conjunction with Restylane®, the hyaluronic acid in Perlane® works by binding with water within the skin to plump it up and increase volume and smoothness. Results are immediate and last between six to nine months. A maintenance treatment is necessary once a year to continue the effects. If not maintained, Perlane® will biodegrade naturally and safely in the skin.
Side effects are minimal and can include temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness which typically does not last longer than a week.
